Iron Comet Consulting, Inc.

VALUES

Mission statements and core values are terms that are thrown around causally and often used for marketing. However, I believe that a company can’t achieve its purpose until everyone in it understands why it is doing what it does. Is it just for money or is it something deeper. Most doctors didn’t get into medicine with the purpose of making money. No, most sincerely wanted to help other people. We are the same.

Our why
When we saw friends and families have their personal medical data stolen because practices didn’t know how to secure themselves, we knew we could help. The frustrations it caused to our family members and embarrassment and financial ramifications to the practices all so that a hacker in a foreign country could make a buck. We knew that these breaches were avoidable when the correct steps were taken.

However, finding the right IT support company that really understands these steps and HIPAA compliance is like finding a needle in the proverbial haystack.

This is our mission: to help practices secure their patient data and remain in compliance with HIPAA so they can focus on taking care of patients.

For our non-medical clients, it is to secure your data and network so that you can focus on your business.

The added bonus is that we get to help deprive income to foreign criminal groups and nation states that oppress their people. Because let’s not kid ourselves, that is where the money from these breaches go.

Mission statement:

Once we understood our Why, it was easy to create our mission statement.

We help practices to secure their patient data and use their IT resources effectively so that they can focus on patient care.

For non-medical clients, we secure their networks so they can use their technology effectively and run their businesses.

Core Values:

To achieve our mission, we had to create a set of values that we could use to guide the company. What is important to us? What must we become to be able to achieve our Why?

For us, this is what we came up with for Iron Comet:

  • Turn the turtles: a struggling customer is like a turtle on its back – it needs help to get back on their feet. That is our job, to help get our customers back on their feet.
  • Positivity or death: being positive is a conscious choice. We can take a positive or a negative from every situation. But being positive keeps us on the right path.
  • Do whatever is necessary: we will do whatever it takes to help our customers protect their patient’s data
  • Always be learning: we are always learning new skills, products and services to help us protect our customer’s data and provide better service
  • No jerks allowed: we don’t accept jerks as clients, vendors, or employees. We treat everyone with respect and expect it in return.
  • Money is blood: we treat money as blood, without it, our business would die. This is also true of our customer’s money. Therefore we treat it with respect and care.
  • Work supports life, not the other way around: We work so that we can have a great life. We don’t work our lives around work.
