A recent survey by Midmark Corp, a medical device manufacturer reveals some interesting statistics about the largest concerns for doctors. They interviewed 300 physicians, providers and administrators around the country.
Here are the findings:
Almost 6 in 10 physicians believe that standardizing evidence-based processes is the most difficult challenge facing the healthcare industry. 62% of doctors anticipate standardization in their organization within the next 3 years.
Accommodating patient populations
Two out of three doctors report that both people with chronic conditions and the elderly are the most difficult to accommodate.
Three in five physicians believe that the healthcare industry needs to lower the cost of care. They rated this more crucial than making services more accessible (23%) or ensuring better outcomes (16%).
Implementing new technologies
Improving patient outcomes in the primary care setting is a leading driver for adopting new technologies. More than half (54%) of the people surveyed said that medical equipment upgrades in their organizations have been driven by improved patient outcomes, rather than the financial concerns. (63%) of doctors say that increased implementation of EMR systems is the most important enhancement for exam rooms for improving outcomes.
Midmark says it will release the full survey results later in the year.
