Dell, once the gold standard for computers, is retreating from the PC business. The margins are shrinking smaller and smaller and tablets are now more powerful. Consumers are looking for tablets to do more and as a result, they use their PCs less. Dell, in turn, has had to lower the quality of their PCs and support. There prices have come down so they are able to compete.
Dell isn’t alone in this as HP is right behind them.
PCs will be important for EMRs for the foreseeable future. EMRs such as McKesson’s Medisoft Clinical need solid workstations that will be reliable for practices. If these two giants are retreating, where are practices going to get their quality hardware?
